Kevin has held the title of Vice President since 2005, and Area Manager from 2004. Kevin is based out of our office in Mississauga, Ontario. Prior to his current post, Kevin was a Marketing Representative for Minuteman Press International, Inc. from January 2003 to January 2004, and prior to that was a Sales Representative for PFW Systems Corporation of London, Ontario from September 1999 to November 2002. Kevin’s parents purchased a Minuteman Press Franchise is 1989, and he has been involved with the company ever since.
BeTheBoss: Tell us about the Minuteman Press concept.
Minuteman Press is a number one rated business service franchise. For almost 40 years, we have led the way in the digital printing and graphics industry. Over the course of this time, we have grown and evolved to offer a wide variety of products and services that every business needs. From digital printing and design, to promotional items and marketing and advertising services, Minuteman Press can help businesses within the local community grow.
BeTheBoss: How and when did you become involved with Minuteman Press?
My parents purchased a Minuteman Press Franchise in London, Ontario in 1989. When I was 18 years old, I moved half way across the country to help my parents with the daily operations of the business. In 1994, I took a field representative position and have since been working my way up the ladder. Today I work as the Regional Vice President for Eastern Canada, offering support to Minuteman Press franchises in my area.
BeTheBoss: What was your background prior to joining Minuteman Press?
My parents bought a Minuteman Press franchises when I was just 18 years old, and I have been involved with the company ever since. That being the case, all of my professional background has been in the digital printing industry, I’ve just worn many different hats. From franchise support to franchise sales, I’ve been involved with the printing industry for quite some time.

BeTheBoss: Who is your ideal franchisee?
We look for individuals that are down to earth, hard working and that will follow our programs and systems, but also bring a creative mind and personality. It is a people oriented business and is ideal for individuals who like dealing with like-minded professionals that utilize the products and services we offer.
BeTheBoss: Tell us a little about the digital print market?
Today our industry is more exciting than ever before. We have the capability to manufacture products at lower operating costs. Our turnaround times are quicker and more efficient while still maintaining the quality and service that our customers have come to expect. Our owners consult their clients on how Minuteman Press can save them time and money, while promoting their business through printed media.
BeTheBoss: What are some of the greatest lessons you’ve learned in growing this franchise?
You need to have patience, which is something I struggle with every single day. It’s also important to stay positive– you just never know. Treat every potential lead/customer/ whoever it may be like gold – never judge.
BeTheBoss: Do you have a mentor or someone you use for inspiration?
I would say that George Holzmacher (VP of International Development), and the late Gary Rockwell (Executive Vice President of Sales) are both inspirations to me. They carry themselves in such a way that they exude positive energy. They are/were always willing to give someone a chance and always willing to be a teacher and a mentor. They are/were happy in that role. If you came to them for help, they would help you.
BeTheBoss: What advice do you have for someone looking to acquire a Franchise?
Do your homework and take your time. Don’t get pressured into it or rushed to make a decisions. It’s also a good idea to take inventory of yourself and decide what kind of person are you and find a franchise that will be a good match for you.
BeTheBoss: In your opinion, why do you think that Minuteman Press would be a great opportunity for someone?
Minuteman Press is a great opportunity to get involved with leading company in a growing industry and offers a quality of life that I think most people are looking for. Even running an average store has above average incomes. Minuteman Press also offers an environment that a lot of people are comfortable with, in that you dealing with other businesses, not a retail environment. Those you interact with on a daily basis are on the same level as you are, and offer a business level of respect.
