Gregory Kopchuk has over 30 years of experience in professional
leadership and sales experience as well as 10 years offering
leadership courses for the military. He ran his own real estate
company for six years, gaining notoriety as a top seller in the
city of Edmonton. Greg has been the recipient of the Master
Licensee Award of Excellence from ActionCOACH for two years
running, and his business recently won the Bronze Award of
Excellence from the Canadian Franchise Association. Greg and his
wife Zenovia have three daughters and he is an ordained Deacon in
the Orthodox Church.

BTB - What made you decide to
franchise?
GK - After working in IT for 18 years, along
with three years in the financial industry, six years in real
estate and two in advertising, I knew I wanted to find a career
that would give memore satisfaction and contribute to my community
as well. ActionCOACH seemed to be a perfect fit. I was coached by
an ActionCOACH and then moved onto providing sales referrals and
signing up people to work with coaches. In September 2006, I won
the rights to become the Master Licensee in the province of
Alberta, soon becoming the Master Licensee for the entire
nation.
BTB - Tell us a little about the Business Coaching
Market?
GK - In some ways people seem to think the
business coaching is new in the market, but that’s just not the
case. Over 405 of fortune 500 companies are using business
coaching. It’s about learning, not teaching. We set the stage for
work that the individual can put into place. Business coaches
aren’t there to do the work for a business owner; they are there to
help them implement successful systems to increase their profits,
team, and have more time to spend with their families and friends.
Coaching is about creating a win-win situation. After coaching,
more than two thirds of clients attribute their coaching to a
higher level of self awareness, smarter goal setting and a more
balanced life.
BTB - What have some of the challenges been in
growing your franchise?
GK - It can sometimes be difficult finding the
right kind of person to be an ActionCOACH: someone with a strong
business background, good in sales and loves to help others
succeed.
BTB - Who has been your greatest
inspiration?
GK - General Patton – he was all about lead,
follow or get out of the way?
BTB - What are some of the advantages in being
an ActionCOACH

GK - The best advantage is that you have the
support of a proven product, amazing team members and that we treat
you like family. You always have someone to speak with when times
get tough, or you need some direction. If you are a
solo-entrepreneur it can seem like you are all alone as you start
your business. With ActionCOACH you can be an entrepreneur but not
have to fly solo all the time. You can make a difference in your
community, your family life, and your finances in a very short
period of time if you put the work into it.
BTB - What “Gadgets” can’t you live
without?
GK - My blackberry torch and laptop
BTB - What do you do in your spare time?
GK - I spend it with my family and kids. Doing

BTB - What advice do you have for someone
looking to acquire a Franchise?
GK - A person has to examine if the vision,
mission, and culture of the franchise fits their personality first.
Then to see if the franchise will help them achieve their personal,
business and financial goals. To determine this you have to have
all the information in order to make an informed business decision.
Also always check the history of the franchise and what support
will be provided.
