What is your background?
For the past six years, I have been an importer and distributor
of clear-out merchandise. Prior to this, I was involved in
telecommunications industry in United States.
Why did you want to start your own
business?
I am entrepreneurial by nature and I cannot stand other people making decisions for me. Given the right opportunity and environment, I believe I have the talent and expertise to succeed.
What attracted you to the Public Mobile opportunity?
I had prior experience in telecommunications, and was aware that
Canadians were dissatisfied with their wireless providers for
binding them into long contracts and expensive service. In
such an environment, I felt Public Mobile was a breath of fresh air
because they were offering predictable unlimited plans at a
low price. This meant that many people who were never able to
afford a cellphone would now have a chance to do so.
From the beginning, I knew this was a successful formula.
That is why I wanted to be a part of it.
What has the experience been like?
The experience so far has been wonderful. Everyone at Public Mobile works like a team. They completely support my business and definitely want it to succeed. Public Mobile supports my stores through extensive marketing, generous promotions and staff training.
How do you interact with the community?
All of my store locations are community based, so interaction
with the community is a necessity. I have proudly participated in
several community festivals. For example, at Moss Park
festival, we provided wholesome burgers, free of charge, to
hundreds of local citizens. I also engage with the community
by taking part in BIA (Business Improvement Area) meetings.
At one of my stores, the BIA has been instrumental in
beautifying the public landscape.
Do you have plans to grow?
I was with Public Mobile even prior to their official launch. At the time of their launch in May 2010, I already had four stores with them. The tremendous response from customers has encouraged me to further expand with Public Mobile. I recently opened two Public Mobile stores in Brampton, and am looking forward to opening three more in the coming month.
