Two long-time friends and business partners have just opened the 90th Massage Addict franchise business in Etobicoke, Ontario.
Magesh Venkataraman and Gobinder Sandhu served together in the Indian Navy, came to Canada in 2010 and have joint real estate ventures. Now, they are taking advantage of a franchise opportunity from one of Canada's fastest-growing massage brands.
The businessmen had considered starting a business for a long time and were exploring their options when Venkataraman went for a massage at Massage Addict in Brampton and was impressed by the experience. Both men were also encouraged by the franchiser's business model and the fact that is is part of the rapidly-growing health and wellness sector.
Both Sandhu and Venkataraman have business consulting experience under their belts, and they feel the support from Massage Addict has been outstanding. Venkataraman noted that they received research and data from the franchiser, along with help finding a location and signing the lease. They also were provided with support for their bank loan documents and clear directions for the activities required leading up to the first day of business, in addition to a five-day, in-person training session and support with marketing and recruitment.
The new franchisees' location at Lake Shore and Park Lawn Roads was not a random selection. The friends researched demographics, population density, the availability of registered therapists and other brand clinics in the Greater Toronto Area first. This led them to realize that their prime area would be Etobicoke, and they narrowed down the site selection from there by looking at the population density and other neighborhood features.
Brand CEO Fraser Clarke is excited by this latest addition to the Massage Addict family. According to Clarke, the two businessmen are a significant asset to the brand and the right partners for it, and they have already agreed to open a second location in the same area by the latter half of 2019.
Canadian owned and operated, Massage Addict now has 90 clinics across Canada with over 1,200 therapists. Services include treatments to manage muscle tension, pain, stress, anxiety, injury and other offerings. Since opening its doors in 2008, this brand has been helping everyday Canadians improve their well-being via massage therapy, and they are still growing.
