The Hempire is a successful chain of Eco-Boutiques, promoting Sustainable Indulgence. The retail locations sell hats, bags, clothing and other green-gifts made of such things as hemp, bamboo, soy and organic and recycled materials. They also stock a complete selection of smoking items such as pipes, and rolling papers, focusing on Canadian made items whenever possible.

It was the spring of 1999 when Jennifer and Adam Forrester met Marsha Churchill, owner of the Hempire in Canmore, AB. Marsha had just opened her first location and she took Jennifer on as part time help. Jennifer and Adam were amazed to learn about the endless benefits of the Hemp plant. It seemed it could help save our fragile planet and environment and they wondered why it wasn‘t being used to it‘s maximum potential. This was something that had struck Marsha as well and the main reason she had been inspired to open her first store.

When Marsha opened her second location in 2001, in Fernie BC, she put Jennifer in charge of daily operations. Jennifer loves living and playing in the mountains and she has been happy to work in such a beautiful location for all these years. Her brother shares the same fondness for the outdoors so when the opportunity arose for them to open their own location in Whistler, BC, they jumped at the chance. Hempire Whistler opened its doors on Canada Day, July 1, 2009, to a Village Stroll full of celebrating Canadians. Now the world is on the way to their doorstep for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympics. Jen and Adam couldn’t be more excited to share their Hempire and their love and knowledge of the amazing hemp plant with all that come to visit them.
