VANCOUVER, BC– Vancouver-based burger restaurant, Vera’s Burger Shack, winner of “Vancouver’s Best Burger” the last eight years running , discovered last night they had yet another high profile fan in singer-songwriter Kenny Chesney. An order was placed by Chesney’s staff, for 53 double cheeseburgers, 22 double Vera burgers, 18 chicken burgers and two veggie burgers to feed the singer, his band and crew after his performance in Vancouver. Vera’s Burger Shack, which is opened its first US locations in 2011 in Portland, is accustomed to receiving “celebrity love” for their made-fresh-daily burgers, fries and shakes, but never before on this scale.
“When Tom Cruise was in Vancouver shooting Mission Impossible, Katie Holmes was in here with her daughter Suri and ordered a few dozen burgers for the cast and crew. Canadian rapper Maestro Fresh-Wes is a regular, and we had UFC fighter and actor Rampage Jackson in a couple of times, but this is by far the largest celebrity order we’ve ever had”, explained Davie Street location franchisee, Ashley McDonald. “We had to pretty much shut down the place for an hour to fill Kenny’s order for his 12 hungry busloads of musicians and crew. Luckily it was from 9-10pm so our regulars weren’t inconvenienced.”
Recently dubbed the “fittest man in country music” by Men’s Health, Chesney reports that perhaps the most important component of his fitness and diet plan is leaving a little room for indulgence and having a “cheat day” per week. "I eat whatever I want," Chesney recently told Men’s Health.
"If I want a chocolate-covered double cheeseburger, I'll eat it."
Vera’s co-owner, Gerald Tritt, is thrilled with the celebrity attention that his 16 location burger chain is receiving, but isn’t surprised that country music’s fittest performer enjoys an occasional burger.
“It makes a lot of sense that if you treat yourself to whatever you want one day a week, you’re more likely to stick to the plan the remaining days,” he agreed.
“Although Vera’s Burger Shack has no immediate plans to offer the said chocolate-covered double cheeseburger, if we ever do we’ll be sure to call it the Chesney Burger,” joked Tritt.
