Nurse Next Door, one of North America's fastest growing franchise systems, has announced that John DeHart, co-founder and, for the past 10 years, a co-CEO, will step up as the single chief executive officer of Nurse Next Door's home-care franchise system. For 10 years John, and fellow co-founder Ken Sim, have been jointly running the business they both started as co-CEOs.
Prior to Nurse Next Door, DeHart launched and cofounded a number of early-stage, hitech companies, but he left this lucrative industry in search of something more meaningful. After taking significant time off, DeHart re-entered the business world with a mission: to create a leading brand in the healthcare industry that would build upon the foundation of core purpose, core values and the envisioned future.
Nurse Next Door was founded in 2001 in Vancouver, BC, after the two founders, DeHart and Sim, struggled to find adequate home care for their loved ones. Sim’s wife was on emergency bed rest due to a difficult pregnancy. Meanwhile, his mom was ailing and he couldn’t find anyone he trusted to care for either of them. DeHart was struggling with similar issues with his aging grandmother.
More than a decade later, the team has built one of North America’s most admired health care brands. Rated as the # 1 Place to Work in British Columbia by B.C Business, one of the top places to work in Canada by the Globe & Mail, and one of the top 20 most innovative companies by BC Business, Nurse Next Door has achieved this by building an amazing culture.
