Since 1998, Famous Dave’s has been serving its delicious BBQ across North America, and now plans to increase its presence in Canada. The restaurant franchise has one location in Winnipeg and another under development. There is potential to grow up to 30 restaurants in Canada, as soon as 2015, you should be able to see the needle move in Canada.

Famous Dave’s has had continued annual growth. In Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500, Famous Dave's was rated #1 Specialty Casual Dining Segment. Famous Dave’s also boasts a customer satisfaction rating above Nordstrom and Costco. The Famous Dave’s franchise community has awarded Famous Dave's training program an overall satisfaction score of 92%, which is a benchmark in the industry. Over the course of the past two decades, Famous Dave's has won approximately 800 different BBQ awards.
People interested in opening a Famous Dave’s have many opportunities to look into. Applicants need at least $500,000 in liquid assets, and the franchisor prefers to work with people with previous experience in the restaurant industry.
“We generally look for multi-unit, branded operators that have experience in the Province that they are looking to develop,” says Salamone. “No one knows the community better than the people living in the territory in which they want to grow. Entrepreneur’s with restaurant industry experience typically enjoy the best results of success.”
All the food at Famous Dave’s is made from scratch with its own signature recipe, so no other restaurant offers anything like it.
“Once you try our award winning, hand crafted and prepared food, people usually determine that they are having the best of the best,” says Salamone.
