Burger King to offer Whoppers around the clock.

Burger King has a prince of a deal for its loyal followers.

The Great Northern Road eatery's drive-thru is now open 24 hours, the first fast-food restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie to offer a round-the-clock operation.

The move has an effective start date of March 24.

McDonald's will follow in May, based on heavy traffic that passes by its restaurant further north on the Golden Mile.

"We had positive feedback on our existing hours at that location," said Burger King spokesperson Cameron Loopstra.

"We had moved to 24 hours because we saw an interest in our customers."

The restaurant's drive-thru has remained open until 4 a.m. "for quite a while".

The round-the-clock opening means existing staff get more hours, initially. If enough city residents want a Whopper at 5 a.m., more people could be hired.

"If it's successful and we find that the increased traffic warrants more staff on the floor, we certainly will look at hiring more," said Loopstra.

Bob Jach, the local franchisee, did not return several calls for comment.

The Sault location is one of only a handful of Burger King's 300-plus locations in Canada to offer a 24-hour drive-thru.
