Prepare now for next term

If you are running a school-related franchise, you have probably enjoyed a few quieter weeks during the summer break, but now is the time to start thinking about getting some administrative tasks out of the way before school starts again.

The end of summer break and the start of a new term will roll around quickly. If you take some time now to prepare, the return to work in September will be a much easier transition for you.

.

Invoicing

If you have any outstanding unpaid bills, now is the time to chase them and get them paid. This applies both to seeking money that you are owed and paying suppliers to whom you owe money. If you start September with a clean balance sheet, you will have peace of mind and a true fresh start.

.

Marketing

Unless all of your classes for September are full, it is time to consider ramping up your marketing campaign to fill any remaining spaces. If you have a busy summer break caring for your own children, take the time to plan out your social media campaign and schedule your posts so they will appear without intervention, and provide a regular reminder to your prospective clients of the services you offer.

.

Timetabling

If you keep your timetables live and add to them whenever you get a new signup, it is easy to keep track of which classes are popular and which need additional promotion. This also minimizes the burden for September and allows you to plan the way in which you will deliver your services throughout the term. This is particularly important if each session has a different theme as you will be able to plan which props and music you will require for each session.

.

Improving your skills

Do you have any outstanding training needs? If so, now is the time to get some training so that by the time you return to work in September, you will be bringing the best version of yourself. If you cannot accommodate training during the summer break, book it for the next possible opportunity so you are committed and can plan around it.

.

Managing your site

Unless you own the venue from which you run your sessions, it is likely that you will need to renew leases or check bookings to ensure they align with your planned timetable and make adjustments where conflicts exist (for example, if maintenance is planned at the venue for a time that coincides with one of your bookings). By identifying these conflicts early, you'll have time to make alternative arrangements and keep the fall term flowing smoothly.

It may seem premature to jump into business administration during the first half of summer break, but by starting early and doing a bit each day, you will ensure a seamless return to work in September.
