Nando’s Appoints Seasoned Franchise Leader as Vice President of Operations

Vancouver, BC, Canada / Toronto, ON, Canada – May 18, 2010 - Nando’s Flame-Grilled Chicken Restaurants (Nando’s), Canada’s choice for flame-grilled chicken and home of the Peri-Peri, today announced the appointment of franchise industry veteran, Neil Thompson, to the role of vice president of operations. In this newly created position, Thompson will oversee all aspects of the national restaurant group’s corporate and franchise operations, product development, purchasing and training.
 
Building on recent British Columbia openings in downtown Vancouver (Davie and Howe) and West Vancouver (Park Royal), this key appointment further reinforces Nando’s growth strategy of tripling its restaurant base of 28 locations over the next three years. Thompson will be relied upon to add value to Franchise Partners and enhance profitability across all levels of operations. Specifically, he will focus on improving operational efficiencies, maintaining product quality and delivering on the restaurant group’s unique customer experience to ensure the Nando’s brand promise is upheld during this period of expansion.

Thompson brings to the table more than 19 years of invaluable operational experience within the franchise industry, having worked with two of Canada’s largest restaurant brands. For the past 12 years he served in managerial roles with Tim Hortons, most recently as director of operations for the company’s Southwestern and Eastern Ontario regions. Prior to this position, he was the district manager for Central Ontario, a role where he began to hone his expertise in operational efficiency and franchise model development. Previously, Thompson was an area training manager at Pizza Hut, where he got his start in the restaurant industry as an assistant manager in 1992.
