The Ledgers vision has grown from a concept of Professional Bookkeeping to a business support system that provides a comprehensive suite of services to small business, their owners and the general public.
The Accounting and Bookkeeping industry is very volatile due to the broadness and ambiguity of the terminology itself. What exactly is ‘bookkeeping’ and who are entitled to call themselves ‘accountants’?
Bookkeepers range from individuals with little or no formal education to persons that have gone through a great deal of education and training but have failed to get a professional designation; in many instances ’bookkeepers’ have learned how to use a software application and then call themselves a ‘bookkeeper’ because they know how to use the program. Knowledge of software does not make one a bookkeeper, it merely makes them a data-entry clerk.
Accountants on the other hand generally have several years of post-secondary education, college diplomas and university degrees. Their education and subsequent training make them very knowledgeable in accounting and tax law and a business owner can generally be confident that their financial information is being taken care of accordingly.
